About

Scoil Fhiachna is a rural co-educational school situated in Glengarriff, approx. 18km west of Bantry town. The staff at Scoil Fhiachna in partnership with the parents and the Board of Management aim to create a warm, caring, disciplined and orderly learning environment in which our pupils feel secure and happy.

We are a Catholic, co-educational school under the patronage of the Bishop of Kerry. We also welcome children of other religions and nationalities and respect their beliefs and cultures.

We cater for boys and girls from junior infants to sixth class. We have over 50 children attending. One of the advantages of our school is that it is not too large; each child is known to the staff and therefore his / her talents and strengths whether academic, artistic, social or sporting are recognised and celebrated.

We have a staff of 4 teachers, three class teachers and one learning support teacher. We have the support of a number of special needs assistants, a part time secretary and a part time cleaner.

The school is well resourced to look after the needs of your child.
We have a bright, spacious school with 3 classrooms, an art room, a large play area.

We expect our pupils to work hard, to enjoy school life, to keep the school rules and the code of conduct. Everyone has a part to play in achieving this goal. The children need to feel secure and cared for by all.

It is essential they learn to take responsibility for their actions and know they are appreciated for their positive behaviour.

Teachers, parents/guardians must work together to create this environment for the children
